Any News?

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Well looking back it seems that about this time of year people start thinking about paying their dues for next year. Are we ready to start gearing up?
I know for myself life has been a little busy and I am sorry I have not posted much in the last month or so, but I have been having some medical issues and I think I am on the up swing. I am looking forward to when everyone can shake off a bit of the dust of every day life and start thinking about gearing up for next season.

Since I missed the last meeting I don’t even know who is captain? Is Kelly being so kind to lead us once again around a tree, I mean bravely into battle?  Who ever is Captain this year, could you PDF a NCWC Membership Application with your signature on it and e-mail it to everyone you want in the unit so we can mail in dues at the beginning of the year?

About this Unit

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Company F of the Fourth Virginia Infantry regiment fought as part of the remarkable Stonewall Brigade, which served under Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson and Robert E. Lee during the American Civil War, 1861-1865. Our members are men and women who live in western and central Oregon (plus one Californian), and our unit enjoys membership in the Northwest Civil War Council (NCWC). We are committed to safely and accurately portraying men and women who lived in Grayson County, Virginia, during mid-Nineteenth Century America. Residents of Grayson County believed fervently in state and local autonomy. Soon after Abraham Lincoln sent warships to reclaim Fort Sumter, a military base in South Carolina, in 1861, these folks mustered together Grayson County’s best woodsmen, called them the Daredevils, and sent them to defend Virginia against what they perceived to be wrongful federal invasion.
